FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What qualifications do I need?
Any person providing beauty treatments in your business (who we call “GoGirls”) must have a Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy or higher.

This includes yourself, but only if you are going to be providing treatments to your clients.  Remember that you can own the business and employ others to be your GoGirls.

All GoGirls need a current drivers licence.

How much does a franchise cost?
The total cost including a white suzuki swift vehicle is $58,000 (plus applicable taxes).

If you have a suitable white vehicle then the cost will be reduced to $40,000.

Remember that buying equipment for your business (including a car) is a legitimate business expense and may reduce your income tax liability.  Speak to your accountant about the tax effectiveness of owning your own business.

What do I receive for the $40,000?
The Initial Franchise Fee is your payment for the right to use the valuable intellectual property, which is comprised of the Beauty on the Go business system. You will have access to our trademarks, logos, operations manual, marketing material, website and other related business knowledge.

In addition to this you will receive a comprehensive Initial Training Program on all aspects of your Beauty on the Go franchise from training in the management of your business to hands-on training in the GoGirl therapy process.

Initial training commences immediately after you purchase your business and runs for one week at the Corporate Office in Canberra.  Following this you will receive a week of “hands on” assistance in your business.  Naturally there is ongoing training and support which will be provided by the Beauty on the Go support team and/or our suppliers.

You will also receive a franchise kit which has everything you need to get started from your massage table to your products and uniform.

What other fees do I have to pay?
In the first three months of operating your business, you don’t have to pay us anything other than the $40,000 Initial Franchise Fee.  We want you to concentrate on getting used to and building your business!

After this time, you will be required to pay a royalty & administration fee of $180* per week which covers your ongoing use of the Beauty on the Go brands, including the name Beauty on the Go, all the logos and slogans we use (which all have trade mark protection) and the website.  You are also paying to use the Beauty on the Go business systems, which have been developed and refined over many years, to make running your business as stress-free as possible!  Finally, this royalty & administration fee also covers the corporate booking service and office administration.  Remember, our corporate office takes all of your client bookings, so, besides the fun job of marketing and building your business, all you have to do is provide the services.

In addition to this, you will also be required to pay a marketing contribution of $30* per week.  This marketing pool provided by all franchise owners allows us to better market and promote Beauty on the Go (including your business), thus building the Beauty on the Go brand for the benefit of all franchise owners and their client base.

Please note that these costs will not be payable by you for the first 3 months whilst you are building your business.

What other costs are associated with purchasing a Beauty on the Go franchise?

Other costs may include:

  • Accounting advice;

  • Legal advice;

  • General business advice;  and

  • Other up-front payments eg Government charges for registering your business name.

We also strongly recommend that you have some capital set aside to spend on marketing and business expenses whilst you are building your franchise.

* This is based on the 2009 calendar year.

Will anyone else be able to operate another Beauty on the Go business in my area?

Although other Beauty on the Go businesses may be called on to attend an appointment in your area, this is only if you are not available for that particular appointment or you cannot perform that particular service to that client.

No other Franchise Owner (including the Franchisor) is permitted to actively market their business within your area (or you in theirs).  This gives you the opportunity to build a rapport within your community and actively participate in events such as fundraisers and beauty expos, which provides you and your business with positive exposure within your area.

Can I have employees?
Yes.  As a general rule, we take bookings from 7:00am to 9:00pm, seven days a week.  We recognise that you can’t work all of these hours yourself, so we would expect that you would require a qualified GoGirl to assist you. Although you may decide not to work as many hours and run the business on your own.  The choice is up to you!

What Beauty Products will I use?
Beauty on the Go uses products by Algologie and Fleur de Mer because they are of high quality, are affordable to the client, and have no opening order cost.

Can I provide other treatments and use other products?
Yes, but these must be approved by Beauty on the Go prior to using the products or providing these treatments.

Will I be able to sell my business in the future?
Yes, the franchise is yours to sell under certain guidelines and conditions, to someone who meets our approval just as you did, and then continues with the franchise.

It’s time… for you!
